Christopher Columbus' discovery of the New World. Note: The Bahamian
island of San Salvador is historically believed to be the site of Columbus'
landfall in the New World on October 12, 1492.

Boxing Day. Public holiday. The day is a traditional English holiday
which started centuries ago when nobility & landlords boxed leftover
Christmas goodies and gave them to servants and tenants.
